First Animal Shelter
in the Ternopil Region
Let’s build the first animal shelter in the Ternopil region and help stray dogs and cats, overcrowded shelters, as well as rescue stations near war zones

There is no animal shelter in Ternopil region, so people turn to neighbouring areas (regions). The nearest shelters are in Ivano-Frankivsk. However, both of them are overcrowded. Building a new shelter will relieve the neighbouring ones, but also solve the lack of one in Ternopil region.
Where are we going to build?
We chose the town Buchach, which is located approximately halfway between the regional cities of Ternopil and Ivano-Frankivsk. There are frequent poisonings and many stray dogs and cats, often in poor health, are found in the vicinity of the town.
Local citizens have been calling for a shelter for a long time, and several of them have also offered to help with construction and management.
Long-term plan
In the first stage we plan to acquire building land, possibly purchase premises with land, build pens and provide reconstruction of buildings. The next step will be to equip the shelter and veterinary surgery, animal reception, storage, quarantine areas and other facilities.
For the second phase we have a pledge for a larger donation from a Czech donor to expand the shelter. If necessary, the shelter’s capacity for housing animals will be expanded and the shelter will be upgraded, including energy-saving measures.
The goal of this fundraiser is to raise funds to purchase land, renovate buildings, or build new animal shelter space, including amenities.
